SYRIA: CIA-MI6 Intel Ops and Sabotage

image

'This incisive article by veteran war correspondent  Felicity Arbuthnot was published by Global Research a year ago, on February 2, 2012.

You will not read it in the New York Times.

At a time of  mounting media fabrications –when “objective truths are fading” and  “lies are passing into history”– this analysis reveals the diabolical modus operandi of US-NATO terrorism and  how covert intelligence ops are applied to trigger conditions which are conducive to the collapse of nation states. One of these “conditions” is the outright killing of  innocent civilians as part of a cover operation and then blaming president Bashar Al Assad of  having committed atrocities against his own people

Michel Chossudovsky,  Global Research , January 27, 2012

“In order to facilitate the action of liberative (sic) forces, …a special effort should be made to eliminate certain key individuals. …[to] be accomplished early in the course of the uprising and intervention, …

Once a political decision has been reached to proceed with internal disturbances in Syria, CIA is prepared, and SIS (MI6) will attempt to mount minor sabotage and coup de main (sic) incidents within Syria, working through contacts with individuals. …Incidents should not be concentrated in Damascus …

Further : a “necessary degree of fear .. frontier incidents and (staged) border clashes”, would “provide a pretext for intervention… the CIA and SIS [MI6 should use … capabilitites in both psychological and action fields to augment tension.” (Joint US-UK leaked Intelligence Document, London and Washington, 1957)

“’The very concept of objective truth is fading out of the world. Lies will pass into history.”
(George Orwell (Eric Arthur Blair, 1903-1950.)

For anyone in two minds about what is really going on in Syria, and whether President Assad, hailed a decade ago as “A Modern Day Attaturk”, has become the latest megalomaniacal despot, to whose people a US-led posse of nations, must deliver “freedom”, with weapons of mass, home, people, nation and livelihood destruction, here is a salutary tale from modern history.

Have the more recent sabre rattlings against Syria* been based on US-UK government papers, only discovered in 2003 - and since air brushed (or erroneously omitted) from even BBC timelines, on that country?

In late 2003, the year of the Iraq invasion, Matthew Jones, a Reader in International History, at London’s Royal Holloway College, discovered “frighteningly frank” documents:1957 plans between then UK Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, and then President, Dwight Eisenhower, endorsing: “a CIA-MI6 plan to stage fake border incidents as an excuse for an invasion (of Syria) by Syria’s pro-western neighbours.”’

Olafur Ragnar Grimsson Iceland president ‘Let banks go bankrupt’ (by AussieNews1)

‘“Why do we consider banks to be like holy churches?” is the rhetorical question that Iceland’s President Olafur Ragnar Grimson asks (and answers) in this truly epic three minutes of truthiness from the farce that is the World Economic Forum in Davos. Amid a week of back-slapping and self-congratulatory party-outdoing, as John Aziz notes, the Icelandic President explains why his nation is growing strongly, why unemployment is negligible, and how they moved from the world’s poster-child for banking crisis 5 years ago to a thriving nation once again. Simply put, he says, “we didn’t follow the prevailing orthodoxies of the last 30 years in the Western world.” There are lessons here for everyone - as Grimson explains the process of creative destruction that remains much needed in Western economies - though we suspect his holographic pass for next year’s Swiss fun will be reneged…’

Syrians Used as Political Pawns | Interview with Webster Tarpley (by breakingtheset)

'Abby Martin talks to with historian, Webster Tarpley, about the looming fiscal cliff and the ongoing crisis in Syria.'

The Largest Economy In The World Is Imploding Right In Front Of Our Eyes

'A devastating economic depression is rapidly spreading across the largest economy in the world. Unemployment is skyrocketing, money is being pulled out of the banks at an astounding rate, bad debts are everywhere and economic activity is slowing down month after month. So who am I talking about?

Not the United States - the economy that I am talking about has a GDP that is more than two trillion dollars larger. It is not China either - the economy that I am talking about is more than twice the size of China. You have probably guessed it by now - the largest economy in the world is the EU economy.

Things in Europe continue to get even worse. Greece and Spain are already experiencing full-blown economic depressions that continue to deepen, and Italy and France are headed down the exact same path that Greece and Spain have gone. Headlines about violent protests and economic despair dominate European newspapers day after day after day. European leaders hold summit meeting after summit meeting, but all of the “solutions” that get announced never seem to fix anything. In fact, the largest economy on the planet continues to implode right in front of our eyes, and the economic shockwave from this implosion is going to be felt to the four corners of the earth.’

Western Propagandists Attempt to Trigger Catastrophic Turkish-Syrian War

'Bloomberg, Guardian, Ynet, and others are all posting in their headlines an identical unconfirmed report that Turkey and Syria have “agreed” to establish a 6 mile wide “buffer zone” running the length of the Turkish-Syrian border.

The report states specifically (emphasis added):

The Syrian government has told its military to keep aircraft at least six miles (10 kilometers) from Turkey’s borders after a deadly shelling incident left five Turks dead, according to the Turkish news website Today’s Zaman.

The news site cited Turkey’s ntvmsnbc.com, which quoted
“reliable sources” yesterday as saying that Syrian President
Bashar al-Assad’s regime has ordered its warplanes and
helicopters to honor the buffer. Neither Turkey’s government nor
Syrian officials confirmed the report.

Accompanying this report are stories such as Reuters’ “UN: Syria buffer zone plan raises questions,” which states:

The United Nations said on Thursday proposals to set up secure safe
zones in Syria to help end the 17-month conflict raised “serious
questions” and would need to be studied carefully.

Ahead of a
meeting on the humanitarian situation in Syria, France and Britain
warned Syria’s President Bashar Assad that military action to secure
buffer zones for civilians inside the country was an option.

 Reuters goes on to “warn:”

Creating a buffer zone for displaced Syrians would be difficult
because a U.N. Security Council resolution would be needed to set up a
no-fly zone to protect the area, and Russia and China would not approve
such a move, diplomats said.

It is not the first time Russia has
posed difficulties for the United States and its allies on the Security
Council. In the 1990s, Moscow strongly supported Serbia in the Balkan
Wars and acted as Belgrade’s protector on the council.

After an
ineffectual UN presence failed to stop genocide in the 1992-1995 Bosnian
War, the United States and its European allies infuriated Russia by
bypassing the deadlocked Security Council and turning to NATO to halt
the Serbian onslaught in Kosovo with a bombing campaign against Serbia
in 1999.

While the idea of a buffer zone is meant to look like a knee-jerk reaction to a still unjustified exchange of fire on the Turkish-Syrian border, with lingering conflicting reports over who was responsible for initially targeting the Turkish town of Akcacle, in reality this has been planned since at least March of this year, where the idea was proposed by the corporate-financier funded Brookings Institution in their “Middle East Memo #21″ “Assessing Options for Regime Change” where it stated specifically (emphasis added):

“An alternative is for diplomatic efforts to focus first on how to end the violence and how to gain humanitarian access, as is being done under Annan’s leadership. This may lead to the creation of safe-havens and humanitarian corridors,
which would have to be backed by limited military power. This would,
of course, fall short of U.S. goals for Syria and could preserve Asad
in power. From that starting point,
however, it is possible that a broad coalition with the appropriate
international mandate could add further coercive action to its efforts

Outrage over £13bn lavished on bonuses for bankers while the rest of us struggle to make ends meet

'Britain’s bankers and other finance workers scooped £13billion in bonuses last year as the rest of the country struggled to make ends meet, official figures revealed yesterday.

Critics accused bankers of ‘living in a parallel universe’, making vast sums despite their involvement in causing the financial crisis which is causing pain for millions of ordinary workers.

The figures, from the Office for National Statistics, reveal how bonuses paid to workers in the finance and insurance sector have rocketed over the last decade.

Analysis looked at the impact of a toxic combination of low interest rates and a rising cost of living on a sum of £10,000 (file photo)

Raking it in: While most families tightened the purse-strings last year, Britain’s bankers and other finance workers gained £13billion in bonuses’

Britain should leave EU amid long-term economic crisis

'In talks to MPs at the Foreign Affairs committee, Cardiff University economist Patrick Minford rejected suggestions that the UK could renegotiate the terms of its membership from within the EU.

He said Britain should “leave” and then negotiate a trading arrangement on a “clean sheet of paper”. Prof Minford warned that the rescue and reform process in the eurozone could take “five to 10 years”.

“We, I think, here tend to overestimate the chances of the euro breaking up. The countries that are most likely to leave in the first instance - say, Greece or Portugal - are absolutely determined to stay in for political reasons”, he said.’

Audit of NY Fed Reveals Technocrat’s Creation and Cover-Up of Global Financial Crash

'A source in the Deutsche Bank explained that in 2008 our financial and monetary system completely collapsed and since that time the banking cartels have been “propping up the system” to make it appear as if everything was fine. In reality our stock market and monetary systems are fake; meaning that there is nothing holding them in place except the illusion that they have stabilized since the Stock Market Crash nearly 5 years ago.'

Mortal TV: Western media bias muddies waters in Syrian conflict (by RussiaToday)

'The man who forced the government of Iceland to resign and kicked out the IMF representatives from his country, Hordur Torfarson, is now teaching meta-modern democracy throughout Europe. The rest of the world would benefit from following the example set by Iceland: Arresting the corrupt bankers who are responsible for the current economic turmoil.
