Bahrain bans protests after cops tear gas & fire on rally (by RussiaToday)

‘Bahraini authorities have banned all protest gatherings amid escalating clashes in the Gulf kingdom. It’s the most sweeping attempt so far to quash anti-regime protests that’ve been going on in the country for nearly two years. The restrictions come after the country’s police reportedly attacked anti-monarchy protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets in the capital Manama on Monday. Clashes in Bahrain occur almost daily, with around 80 people being killed since the unrest began. The country’s under fire from human rights groups for its brutal crackdowns on pro-reform campaigners who are calling for more rights, jobs and education. RT gets more on this from political analyst Sreeram Chaulia.’

PMQs: Powerful paedo ring in UK Parliament (24Oct12) (by liarpoliticians)

‘Prime Mininsters Questions: Labour MP Tom Watson wants an investigation into a powerful paedophile ring in Parliament and people who wporked in the past at Downing Street. Don’t forget, it was politicians who shelved “Operation Ore” when it was found politicians, police, and judges were on the list of those downloading child “porn”.

Recorded from BBC2’s The Daily Politics, PMQs, 24 October 2012.’

‘The Murdoch empire and BBC are clearly safe havens for child abusers to operate.

A society that takes the position of not believing victims, hiding the truth and protecting abusers for their own personal gain is a sad state of affairs. It is typical of a society gone mad, set up to procure children and to protect paedophiles. In other words children’s well-being comes down to simply politics. If you accuse someone of abuse and they happen to be famous or powerful then tough luck you lose. You won’t be believed, regardless of the validity of your claims by either the state or mainstream corporate media seems to be the message.

The irony is that the Murdoch empire, who has always been quick to name and shame is curiously reluctant when it comes to naming one of its own stars. It appears that the empire is only prepared to expose child abusers and paedophiles as long as it doesn’t affect its own reputation.

We’ve moved on from just phone hacking.

One of News International’s slogans on their Website is “We’re delivering more news, to more people, more often, in more ways than ever”. If the Murdoch press is willing to deny the public vital information which is in their interest to know, like exposing paedophiles and child abusers, then the question has to be – Are News International’s titles worth the paper they’re written on? Or more importantly, are the Murdochs responsible enough to run a media empire influencing millions of people all around the world.

If they’re hiding child abuse, then the answer is no.’

‘Jimmy Savile is considered to be a British TV icon who hosted popular shows like Jim’ll Fix It and Top of the Pops. His decades of presence in pop culture has led him to obtain an incredible amount of “elite” recognition such as Officer of the Order of the British Empire, Cross of Merit of the Order and Freeman of the Borough of Scarborough. He was also knighted by the Queen herself (God save her) “for charitable services” and obtained Papal knighthood from Jean-Paul II, making him a Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Gregory the Great.

But now, over a year after his death, the disgusting, ugly truth about this disgusting ugly character is being revealed by British newspapers: He sexually abused a great number of children and adults during his career, terrifying, manipulating and traumatizing them, while enjoying total immunity. Now that the cat’s out of the box, many startling allegations are surfacing: Savile apparently abused young girls in the backstage of his show Top of the Pops; one of his victims was a young as nine years old; he was given a room at a hospital for the criminally insane where he abused patients and his trips to children’s hospitals for charities were used as a chance to abuse sick children.

The worst fact about this story is that Savile’s “tendencies” were well known by the police and by the BBC (his employer, which is, by the way, funded by British taxpayers) for years but nothing was ever done to stop him. Quite to the contrary, while Savile was aggressively preying on children, the BBC covered up his crimes while the police took bribes and ignored him.

People used to call him “Sir” Jimmy Savile because the Queen knighted him. While those that honored him might now claim that they’re “shocked” to learn about Savile’s actions, I have a feeling that all of this information was known as he was part of a larger system practicing ritual abuse.

How can such a man enjoy so much immunity and protection? And why did he obtain all of these impressive “titles”? The answer is simple yet awful: He was part of the establishment. He had friends within the elite. He was part of its perverse entertainment industry that is filled with manipulative pedophiles such as himself. He was part of this clique that is above the law. Is it surprising that all of these allegation only surfaced after his death? No, his “friends” protected him while he was alive and he has never suffered any consequences for his actions.’

‘The swift conviction of Pope Benedict’s former butler leaves lingering suspicions that he was a pawn in a much larger Vatican intrigue involving infighting in the papal court and alleged corruption at the highest levels of the Roman Catholic Church.

Despite the Vatican’s desire to quickly turn the page on one of the worst scandals in its recent history, the trial of Paolo Gabriele for leaking sensitive documents has left many questions unanswered, leading some to call it a whitewash.

Gabriele’s trial was concluded at lightening speed, ending on Saturday after only four hearings and it was an open secret that proceedings would end before a three-week gathering of bishops from around the world began on Sunday.

“The Vatican whitewashes it all,” headlined Il Fatto Quotidiano, one of the newspapers that published material leaked by Gabriele, who had privileged access to the papal apartments.

While other commentators were less categorical about the possibility of orchestrated cover-up, most agreed that the trial left many unsolved mysteries and lingering contradictions.’

‘G4S, the firm at the center of the debacle over security for the London 2012 Olympics, is helping Israel secure facilities where Palestinian children are imprisoned and severly abused.

Defence for Children-Palestine (DCI-Palestine) has released an urgent appeal to end the practice of holding Palestinian children from the West Bank in solitary confinement in facilities in Israel. The organization has documented 53 such cases since 2008.

The children have been held in solitary confinement mainly in Al Jalame and Petah Tikva interrogation centers. The security systems for Al Jalame detention facilities were provided by G4S Israel, according to a March 2011 report on the firm by Who Profits.’

‘For the first time ever, British ministers were forced to issue a public confession admitting that atrocities were carried out ‘at the hands of the colonial administration’.

The admission came via a Whitehall lawyer addressing three elderly Kenyans who had gone to the High Court in London to demand damages and an apology. Now in their 80s, one of them told the court how he had been brutally castrated in a British detention camp during the Mau Mau rebellion - Britain’s bloodiest colonial war.’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attends the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem (al-Quds) on June 24, 2012.

‘Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vows escalation of Israel’s acts of aggression against the Gaza Strip at — what he calls — Tel Aviv’s discretion.

Netanyahu made the remarks during a weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem (al-Quds) on Sunday evening after the regime’s military killed over a dozen people in the coastal strip over the past week, AFP reported.

He said that “if necessary, it (the military) will act with even more force.”

Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 16 Palestinian since Monday. Dozens of Palestinians have also been injured in the assaults.

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has threatened to end an Egypt-brokered truce with Tel Aviv if the Israeli aggression against the besieged enclave continues.

The Tel Aviv regime has been recurrently bombarding Gaza ever since its 22-day war on the impoverished territory in December 2008 and January 2009, which killed more than 1,400 Palestinians and inflicted a damage of USD 1.6 billion on the region’s already-stagnant economy.

The offensives are often launched under the usual pretext of responding to the purported firing of rockets from the direction of Gaza.

This is while the home-made projectiles seldom leave any casualties or considerable damage to property.

The Israeli hostility rages on, while Tel Aviv refuses to lift an all-out blockade it imposed on Gaza in mid-June 2007.’

UK care system leaves kids at risk of sexual abuse

‘Children who run away from care homes are being abused and groomed for sex, while teenagers are routinely placed in rough areas far from home and in care homes known to pedophiles, a cross-party report by British Parliamentarians has found.

Police estimate that some 10,000 children go missing from care annually, though official government data recorded only 930 last year. The authors of the report did “not know for sure how many children have gone missing from care, where they go or what happens to them when they are gone.”

The report highlighted a troubling tendency in the child protection system, where it is often acceptable for adults to engage in sex with children as long as it is “consensual.” The MP’s are expected to announce an urgent investigation into the system, which they say “is not fit for purpose.”

The report laid the blame for the “unacceptable” failings with the care homes, the police and Ofsted, the government department that regulates child care.’

Prison Poison: Thousands jailed, many tortured by Libyan rebels (by RussiaToday)

‘Thousands of supporters of former dictator Muammar Gaddafi are still being held in Libyan prisons, with many of them tortured - according to a UN report. Many jails are secret and under the control of armed rebels who refuse to comply with the country’s new government.

Lawrence Freeman from the Executive Intelligence Review Magazine talks to RT. He says that there’s no sign Libya is getting closer to democracy.’

Lawless Land - Libya (by journeymanpictures)

‘Gaddafi may be gone but Libya is now a country in chaos. Rebel groups are flush with weapons and taking the law into their own hands, persecuting those thought to have been allied to Gaddafi’s regime.

Libya’s power vacuum has been filled by heavily armed rebels who still control much of the war-torn nation. Images of the sprawling refugee camps reveal the extent of the country’s destroyed infrastructure. Mohammed Swehli, a commander of one of the major Misratan Rebel Brigades, denies the widespread allegations of torture and abuse. “They’re not bandits, they’re not militia groups”, he says of the rebels. But video after video has emerged of the torture of perceived Gaddafi loyalists, most of them far too gruesome to broadcast. In some cases the brutal treatment appears to be based solely on the colour of the victim’s skin. This report gained rare access to the prisons where thousands are being held indefinitely without charge. One former prisoner shows pictures of his injuries. “This is when they beat me with electric cables. They called me slave”, he says. With upcoming elections and new fears over a split between the country’s east and west, what does the future hold for post-revolution Libya?

‘Since 2011, reports of arsonists and gunmen amongst Syria’s opposition have been included in reports regarding the unrest in Syria, albeit buried under sensational headlines of the Syrian government’s “brutality.” More recently, Human Rights Watch (HRW) has conceded that indeed the Syrian opposition “Free Syrian Army” is conducting widespread, systematic abuses including the kidnapping, torture, and murder of both security forces and civilians.

The HRW report titled, “Syria: Armed Opposition Groups Committing Abuses,” is broken into three parts; kidnapping, torture, and executions. And while the report attempts to focus mainly on atrocities carried out against security forces and government supporters, the mention of civilian victims is made as well.’

‘SOPA power abuse: Copyright monopoly vs human rights’ (by RussiaToday)

‘Washington is working flat out to get its hands on alleged copyright violators both at home and abroad. The founder of file-swapping website MegaUpload was arrested in New Zealand last week and could face extradition to the U.S. Rick Falkvinge, founder of the Swedish Pirate Party, believes the anti-piracy bills being pushed through Congress, will violate basic human rights.’

‘Based on interviews with victims of war crimes as well as with witnesses and Libyan officials in Tripoli, Zawiya, Sibrata, Khoms, Zliten, Misrata, Tawergha and Sirte, the report calls for the investigation of evidence that NATO targeted civilian sites, causing many deaths and injuries. Civilian facilities targeted by NATO bombs and missiles included schools, government buildings, at least one food warehouse, and private homes.

The report also presents evidence of systematic murder, torture, expulsion and abuse of suspected Gaddafi loyalists by the NATO-backed “rebel” forces of the National Transitional Council (NTC). It describes the forced expulsion of the mostly black-skinned inhabitants of Tawergha and the ongoing persecution of sub-Saharan migrant workers by forces allied to the NTC and its transitional government.

The investigators report savage and repeated beatings of prisoners held without trial or charges, the summary execution of pro-Gaddafi fighters, and witness reports of “indiscriminate and retaliatory murders, including the ‘slaughter’ (i.e., throat slitting) of former combatants.”’
